Wanganui’s Big Lead Over Wellington in Inter-Collegiate Game
Per Press Association. • WELLINGTON, Last Night. Wanganui obtained a commanding Lead over Wellington in tho intcr-coi-lcgo annual cricket match on tho College ground to-day in weather which was much better suited for footbali than cricket. Wellington collapsed in the first innings for SI runs against good bowling by Fullerton-Smith and Glcndinning, eight wickets being down at one stage for 47 runs. Tho Wanganui lads, who appeared bigger and more experienced than their opponents, found nothing wrong with the pitch as Innes and Hobbs put on 73 for the first wicket, of which Hobbs scored 28. Glcndinning only notched a single, but Trehncr held up hi 3 'wicket until Innes ran past his century. At the drawing of stumps the score stood at 162 for the loss of two wickets, Innes being 107 not out and Trchner 14 not out. Innes played a sterling innings hitting two sixes and 15 fours in which clean leg strokes figured prominently. The match will bo resumed to-morrow morning.
