Children's Parties

DELIGHTFUL STUDIO PARTY Miss Gwen Gibbs gave a delightful party for her small pupils at the studio on Monday afternoon. The time passed all too quickly with games and competitions, and then tea was a happy interlude, with crackers and paper caps to add to the gaiety. An egg and spoon race was won by William Oram. The winners of tho test dance were Valerie Oram (first section) and Margaret Runniclcs (second section), and in the interpretation test, which was judged by Miss K. Boyle, Jean Scott was first and Patricia Burgess second. Miss Boyle remarked that all the interpretations were excellent. There wore also several exhibition dances, which were cleverly executed. CHRISTMAS TREE PARTY Two hundred children attended a Christmas party held on Saturday under the auspices of Loyal Manawatu Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U. There was an attractive Christmas tree laden with gifts, and each child received a parcel of toys at the hands of Santa Claus (Bros. D. T. Dilks and T. J. Venn). All spent a thoroughly enjoyable time. Bro. and Sister Scroggs were in chargo of the general arrangements, assisted by energetic helpers. Afternoon tea was provided. There were 4SI children on tho list, for presents, and those unable to attend owing to being resident at a distance arc also receiving gifts, no fewer than 50 parcels being dispatched by post to various families. CONGREGATIONAL SUNDAY The Congregational Sunday school year was brought to a close last even-, ing with a children’s tea in tho schoo! room. Tho youngsters thoroughly enjoyed tho occasion as did those parents who were privileged to be present. At tho conclusion Father Christmas arrived to distribute presents from a heavily laden Christmas tree. He was greeted with rousing cheers and as their name? were called, tlio children went forward to receive their gift and a hearty handshake from the man in tlio fur-trimmed jacket of red.
