Takaro Christmas Fair
Despite numerous other attractions, the Christmas Fair held on Wednesday in the Takaro hall, in conjunction with that portion of All Saints’ Parish,proved a success, all stalls doing a good business. The sale was ably conducted by the Takalro Guild members under the supervision of Mrs. Arlidge, the interior of the hall being gaily decorated with paper streamers and flowers, and the various stalls were Well stocked and arranged. The proceeds of the function are to be added to the Takaro Parish hal. funds.
A deldgiitful entertainment was helid in the evening, items being rendered by the following:—Vocal . solos, Mesdames Bussell arid Sampson, Mass Joan Wolforman, and dancing by Miss OougMari’s pupils. Canon Woodward, in opening the fain, said that all the helpers had been enthusiastic and had worked kaTd, and he congratulated them on the excellent way they had arranged for the function and wished . that the sale might prove a success, eclipsing all previous effort*.
Rev. J. Neild, on behalf of the Takaro parishioners, thanked Canon Woodward for opening the bazaar.
The stallholders were as follow: — Guild stall, Mesdames Egan, Sevan, Oopbsiey, and Ricketts 5 Takauo Girin Club stall, Misses C. Smith and JL Needham; cake 'stall, Mesdames Pickering and Wilkin;, flower stall, Masses K. Needham and F. Watt; sweets and ice-cream stall, Mesdames Manners and 8 ear ell; produce stall, Mesdames Rowlands and White; bran tub, Misses H. Olhi-ke -and C. Sylva; tea rooms, Mrs Cater.
The first prize in the cake competition, which was judged by Mrs. ArIririge, was won by Mrs. Tait, while Mrs Waller received first, prize for scones. Mrs. L. A. Abraham, who judged the baby show, made the following awards: Under six months, girl, Baby Clark; boy, Baby Penny. Under 12 months, girl, Baby Brougham; boy, Baby Hearsey. A special prize was donated by Mrs. Abraham to Baby Thompson.
