COUNCILLOR’S STATEMENT DESCRIBED AS MISLEADING
KAIRANGA C.C. WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR TAX ON ’BUSES TO MUSSON. During the course of the meeting of the Kairanga County Council yesterday, Cr. P. J. Small gave an unqualified denial to an allegation by a Palmerston North borough councillor to the effect that the discontinuance of the borough ’bus servieo to Milson had been brought about by the tax imposed on these vehicles by the Kairanga Council. "Cr. Hodgcns said,” stated Cr. Small, “that it was tho super-tax imposed by the Kairanga County Council which made it necessary to take these 'buses off. As a result of this, quite a number of people at Milson tVnk that this Council is trying to persecute them. "This statement on the part of Cr. Hodgens is misleading and quite unjustified. This Council never at any time imposed any penalties on. ’buses running from the town through its district. I wish to take this opportunity of contradicting the statement.”
