Mayor Makes a Promise ELECTRICITY ACCOUNT SHOWS GOOD CREDIT The announcement by tho Mayor (Mr. A. J. Graham) during the course of his speech at the Opera house last evening that there was a prospect of electric lighting and power charges in the Palmerston North borough being further reduced during the coming year, was received with applause. The announcement was made following a statement that the receipts from the electrical undertaking had increased by £8,458 during the past 12 months. There was a credit of £2019 in the electrical account and he was of opinion that excess profits should be given back to the consumers and ratepayers (applause). ~ • , If returned as Mayor, Mr. Graham said he would make it his duty to introduce a recommendation to tho council to have the charges reduced.
