Eeceived Monday, 9.25 p.m. SYDNEY, August 27.* ; The trial has commenced of Mr. Garden, secretary of the Trades and Labour Council, on a charge of inciting murder on the’high seas. k ! Garden pleaded not guilty. In a state- 1 meat from the dock he said the charge was too absurd for words. ’ ' • Later.; ! Mr. Garden, who was indicted on three charges, namely, soliciting persons to commit- murder on tho high, seas,: to commit murder on the high seas,! encouraging persons to commit murder, on the high seas, and endeavouring to persuade persons to commit murder on the high seas, pleaded not guilty to all charges, and the jury, after short deliberation, returned a verdict of not guilty. Garden was accordingly tffcquitted.
