M. Li Kwang Hong, aged 59, Consul for the Republic of China in New Zealand, passed away at Wellington on Thursday night. • . Mr. L. H. MoCalman, late supervisor of Wellington Telegraph Office took up his new duties in charge of the Holegraph Office at Palmerston North yesterday.
A Berlin cable announces the death of Herr Rudolph Heinze, leader of the German People’s Party in Saxony. Death was duo to heart falure after an election campaign. Tho central executive of the League of Nations Society of Canada has endorsed the suggestion that the Prime Minister, the Hon. \V. L. Mackenzie, attend tho next Assembly of the League at Geneva as tho Dominion ’a representative, states an Ottawa cable. Mr. J. A. Shand, publicity manager for New Zealander for J. G. Williamson and J. and N. Tait, is in Palmerston North making preliminary arrangements for tho forthcoming appearance of the world-famous pianist Moisciwitsch at the Opera House on Thursday June 7th. Mr. Shand states that a number of the firm 's big attractions are booked for Palmerston North in tho near future, including “Madame Pompadour” and “The Student Prince” with Betty de Vries, and Janies Liddy, the noted London comedians, in tha lead.
