■WANGANUI FIELDS T.OR | TO-DAY UNDER REVIEW. | The weather prospects for the Wanganui Meeting concluding to-day aro not so bright as on Thursday, but tho course has plenty of shelter and good racing should result from the fields carded. These arc not as strongly numerically as on the opening day, but they arc handicapped truer to form and conceal their potentialities in a surprisingly open manner. Mister Gamp will again be first fancy on the machine, for his fall on Thursday was due to no fault of his own. Stronger support will be accorded Peshwa and Troilus. He should do best in the field, but strong opposition may be forthcoming from Bisox, the unlucky horse at Hawera, Royal Elm and the so-far disappointing Gasnapper. Royal Acre moved very fast over the middle stages of tho journey at Hawera last Saturday' after being badly squeezed out at the start of the seven-furlong event. Red Fuchsia won well enough at Hastings to give his connections a lot of faith. Aberfcldy from the south was not started on Thursday, but he has not been brought up all this way for a jaunt. He has been doing good work, both at Riccarton and since ho arrived at Wanganui. The result of the May Hurdles did not throw much light on the possibilities of J’crlc de Leon, but he had improved a of places over the last half-mile, finishing fifth. The extra distance should prove in his favour. Pouri was a disappointment on Thursday, but ho was going better than most at the end, recovering a lot ot lost ground to finish fourth. Matu and Troilus ran well enough to carry a certain amount of added support to-day, but \oxatious ran a very bad race. First Acre and Broad Acre arc proving expensive disappointments. Among the lightweights a good run can be looked for from Moa Bird and Miss Bat. The former particularly impressed on Thursday. and the promoted hack should not be long in winning an .open event. Covent Garden, Limited, and Tea Time may be best supported.
