DAWN ASSHETON, THE BEAUTIFUL
Dawn Assheton, in vivacious mood, with her bewitching beauty, her exquisite voice, the vivid flame of her personality, so full of colour and life, made an instantaneous appeal to last night’s audience at the Opera House. One gazed and listened, lost in admiration.
Miss Assheton made her first appearance in a lovely frock of black velvet, with old rose and silver, and carried a beautiful feather fan. Her next appearance in an Indian costume, with gorgeous Oriental colouring, gave a most striking effect. The Spanish gown with its threetiered satin skirt toning from pale gold to flame and a tight black bodice suited Miss Asshcton’s fairness to perfection, the Spanish headdress of black lace further emphasising the charm. But perhaps of all, her Hungarian bridal gown delighted most, with its floral hood and most entrancing colourings from the tiny shawl to the scarlet boots with their gold tassels. Delightful acting and a glorious voice were even more delightful than advance information had acclaimed them.
