DON’T USE AS POOTREST. Keep your foot off the clutch pedal until you are ready to shift gears or .slop the car, “Riding the dutch” or iu other words, keeping the foot continually on the clutch pedal, is a habit that has hastened many a good car on its way to the scrap-heap.

When the foot rests on the clutch pedal the clutch starts to slip. It may bo imperceptible at first, but wear will surely develop, until finally the clutch will slip all the time, and is ruined. The constant slipping glazes the surface, and tho dutch spring loses its tension. Furthermore, the pedal pressure puts a load on the dutch release bearing ami causes that to wear also.
