MUST LEAVE AIRSHIP DEVELOPMENT WITH PRIVATE ENTERPRISE

BRITISH GOVERNMENT CAUTIOUS. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Thursday, 8 p.m. LONDON, May 17. Sir Samuel Hoaro, Aviation Minister, in answer to a question in the Commons as to whether it tvas proposed to use the airship RICH in flights to India and the Dominions under the Air Ministry’s control, held the view that the subsequent development of airship transport was preferable by private enterprise. Asked whether his attention had been called to the proposal to build a fleet of airships of 0,750,000 cubic feet capa city for a trans-Atlantic mail service, Sir Samuel Hoaro said that the whole object of the experiments in connection with airships was to carry out exhaustive tests before incurring any further expenditure, and no public money would therefore bo spent on airship development projects until RlOl had carried out extensive trials and had satisfied all specifications and conditions.
