FEILDING BOROUGH MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The Pcilding Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr E. Pair) presiding. There were also present: Crs. C. B. Tyalor, S. D. Pearce, T. Collins, A. C. McCorkindale, J. C. Hill, D. Pryde, J. Corpe, V. E. Smith and IT. Stewart. General Business. The council placed on record its i appreciation of the action of Mr A. J. Bead in donating £2 towards the cost of improvements at Jjhnson Park. Accounts amounting to £495 2/2 were passed for payment, and accounts ■amounting to £1207 17/10 paid sinco the last meeting were approved. In connection with the children’s playground apparatus, the quotation of Messrs Burnc and Neilson to supply and erect the apparatus complete on the ground for £45 was accepted. The work, however, will not bo put in hand until September next. The tender of Mr I’. J. Mann for the lease of certain river accretion at £2 per acre per annum was accepted. In connection with the proposal of the Pahiatna Borough Council that the Mannwatii Gorge Road Board of Control be disbanded and the control handed over, to the Highways Board, Ihe Council resolved to refer the matter to the finance committee to consider the question as it was felt that the road should bo taken over by the Government as a National Highway. The application of Mr J. M. Cunningham for a street light in Haggitt street was referred to the street lighting committee for report.
