PRIZES AND PRIZE WINNERS

The Eongotea Horticultural Society held a very successful show on Wednesday in glorious weather, and there was a very lino display of hulhs and other flowers. Although the quantity did not come up to lust year, the quality was of a very nigh order. The children’s classes were well filled which shows that the younger ones arc taking a keen interest in flowers. The locaf exhibitors annexed the majority of . prizes, although-’ the visitors who came from Levin, Peilding, Palmerston North, and Halcombc, wore fairly successful. The attendance in the aflernoon was not very large, although it was well made up for in the evening when the' hall was packed. The (Society’s Challenge Howl,, valued at 25 guineas, and presented by the late N, Gorton, Esq., was won by Mr. J. 0. Glover. The champion bloom for tlje whole show was won by the same exhibitor, with his Barri “ Osprey.” Tho points prizes were won by the following— Section B—Amateur Class: A. T. Yarrall, 58 points: Section D —Mrs. H. J. Eansom, 47. ' Section I—Jill Bower, 48. A silver cup, presented by Mr. E. Dear, value 10 guineas, for most points in the open class, was won by Mr. J. C. A musical programme was held in the evening under tue organization of Mrs, M. H. White.
