OPEN WITH ANIMATED COMPETITION. MARKET id to Id HIGHER. Messrs Dalgcty and Company Ltd. report having received the following cablegram from their London House under date of the 18th instant;— “Wool sales have opened with fair selection, large attendance of buyers, competition animated. , As compared with closing rates of last series, prices are unchanged to 5 per cent, higher.” Messrs Levin and Co.. Lid., have received iho following cable from their London agents, dated 13th September. 1927: —

“The auctions opened to-day with a large attendance of buyers. Competition strong. Continental buyers operating freely. As compared with the July sates, the market generally is ?d to Id per lb. higher. Slipe wools, secured merinos and scoured crossbreds selling readily at par to 5 per cent, higher.”
