The report presented to the Council of the Co-operative Butter and Cheese Factories' Association states that the gain to farmers of Australia from the Paterson stabilisation plan has been about. , £2,000,000. After paying a bounty of 3d per pound, the committee had a sufficient balance In hand to make a rebate to the manufacturers of 7-16 d per pound on butter .which amounts to £420,000. Th e council agreed that it was imperative that the duty on New Zealand butter be increased to 6d per pound and 6d pes. pound on cheese with a corresponding increase under the general tariff.
