BUNNYTHORPE NOTES
TENNIS AT WHAKARONGO. A pleasant afternoon was spent at tennis on the Whakarongo courts on Saturday, when a match was played between the Bunnythorpe and local teams. The weather proved not too hot and some very good games resulted in a win for Whakarongo by 12 sets and 82 games to 4 sets and 68 games. Detailed results are as follows (Whakarongo players being mentioned first in each case): — Ladies’ singles.’—Miss Thomson lost to Mrs. Lierney, 2—6; Miss G. Yautier defeated Miss E. Robson, 6—5; Mrs,. Eggers defeated Miss W. Robson, 6 —5; Miss C. Vautier defeated Miss Duthie, 6 —3. singles.—P. Vautier defeated G. Duthie, 6 —4; S. Oxenhara lost to H. Robson, I—6; L. Clark defeated W. Sutherland, 6 —l; R. Gibbs defeated L. Uren, "6—3. Ladies’ doubles.' —Misses Thomson and G. Vautier defeated Mrs. Lierney and Miss E. Robson;. 6 —5; Mrs. Eggers and MJss G. Vautier to Misses W. Robson and Duthie, 2—6. • Men’s doubles.-T-Vautler and Oxcriham defeated Godfrey and Duthie, 6—5; ! Clark and Gibbs defeated Robson and Sutherland, 6—4. Combined doubles. —Vautier and Miss Thomson lost to Godfrey and Mrs. Lierney, 5—6; ! Oxenham and Miss G. Vautier deefated Robson and Miss E. Robson, 6 —4; Clark and Mro. Eggers defeated Sutherland and Miss W. Robson. 6- —2; Gibbs and Miss C. Vautier , defeated Uren and Miss Duthie, 6; —3. After the match was completed, Mr. Godfrey, on behalf of the visiting team, thanked the Whakarongo players fOr the afternoon’s tennis and the ladies for the dainty afternoon tea which they dispensed. Mr. Vautier suitably replied for the local players. , .... ." '
