SWIMMING

GIRL GUIDES DON COSTUMES. The Palmerston North Girl Guides Association held their first swimming sports on Saturday afternoon at the Central School baths. Guides from Fellding and Bulls were present and competed with the Palmerston North Guides. The President of the ‘Association, Mrs. D. H. Bett. presented a challenge cup for most points in swimming and prixes were very kindly donated by the following:—Mr. G. H. Bennett, Mrs. Bett Mrs Currie, Mrs Haggitt, Mrs Keeble ? Miss McHardy, Mrs. Tennant Miss Maclean, Mrs Vasey, Miss Warburton. Miss Warren and Mrs H. N. Watson to whom the Guides are very grateful. The thankg of the committee are due to the committee of the Central School for the loan of the baths and ■also to Mr'. MacPherson who acted as starter and Messrs Eyre, Devine t and Smith who were the. judges. The sports were under the management of Mrs Currie (District-secre-tary), Mrs. Haggitt and Mrs Grant Sim (members of the Executive), Miss Warburton (District Commissioner) , and Miss Warren assisted by the guiders Misses Bendal, McHardy, Sim and Mrs Vasey.
