I Mailey, on being interviewed regarding his New Zealand tour, said the football atmosphere was still dominant in the Dominion, but cricket was coming into is own, if slowly. Many keen and promising young players were met with. ■He somewhat severely criticized the selection of the New Zealand team for the second test and the team as a whole. He was not complimentary regarding the accommodation provided throughout the tour.
