FAINTLY HEARD AT ISOLATED STATIONS SIB GEORGE FENWICK’S SPEECH INAUDIBLE. EPer Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Last Night Portion of the programme that was broadcasted by wireless from Chicago on Sunday evening was picked up by Master Sidey, son of Mr T. K. Sidey, M.P, Master Sidey, who was using three valve reflex set and cage aerial, picked up messages from the Beach Hotel, Chicago, about 7.80 p.m. and kept in touch with that station for about a quarter of an hour. Conditions were not altogether favourable, as the Morse system of telegraphing was being freely employed at the time. Numbers of musical items were heard fairly distinctly, but the speech by Sir George Fenwick was not picked up. Mr Lane, of Moteuka, heard practically the full programme from Chicago and part of Sir Geo. Fenwick’s speech. WHISPERS AT GREYMOUTH. GREYMOUTH, Last Night. Though “atmospherics” and an untuned local amateur transmission set J interfered somewhat, Sir Geo. Fenwick’s speech came through last night, Mr Harold Walsh, a local amateur, receiving patches on two valves. New Zealand was mentioned several times. The words "Singapore policy” were also heard, but the context could not be discerned. Musical items came through faintly for a few seconds. HEARD CLEARLY AT TEVIARTT. TIMARU, Last Night. Sir Geo. Fen-wick’s Chicago speech was picked up here clearljsion Sunday night at 8.45 p.m. Sir George first spoke on the suitability of Singapore as an Admiralty base and later on Mr Massey and the New Zealand Government.
