LUNACY REFORM.
PETITION TO PARLIAMENT. [By Electric Cable- -Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association,l LONDON, March'S. The National Society for Lunacy Reform is petitioning Parliament to appoint a Royal Commission on the present laws dealing with Insanity. Messrs Ben Turner and Walter Samuel, Labour members, are moving the adjournment of the House of Commons on Monday on the same question. A correspondent writes to the “Daily Chronicle,”: "I was detained in a lunatic asylum over three years, but escaped penniless in 1920, during a thick fog, and began life afresh. Since then I have proved that the medical superintendent was absolutely wrong when he repeatedly said that even if I was released, X could not earn a living. I was a profitable patient, and was paid for out of my estate, and I more than earned a living by working in the asylum.”
