FAT SIEEEP IN GREAT DEMAND. BEEF PRICES DECLINE. (Ppv Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. A notable feature about the Addington market to-day was the small entry of fat sheep, it being 33 per cent, under average requirements. Hoti) prices resulted in consequence. An over supply of beef caused an easing of about 2/ to 2/6 per 100 lbs., but little good beef was selling undor 41/ per 100 lbs. Store sheep met with a keen sale for good sorts. Store Sheep.—A fair entry and an excellent sale, hoggets showing an improvement of from 2/ to 3/ per head on last week. Six and 8-tooth crossbred ewes, in lamb, realised 40/ to 40/7; aged ewes, with 100 per cent, lambs, 22/9, (all counted); forward 4, and 6-tooth halfbred wethers, 37/9 to 38/; fairly good 4 and 6-tooth halfbred wethers, 36/; forward crossbred wethers, 37/3; ordinary threequarterbred 4 and fi-tooth wethers, 33/G; ordinary 2,4, 6 and 8-tooth wethers, 28/5 to 29/9; cull 4 and 6-tooth wethers 24/3; good threequarterbred ewe hoggets 29/2 to 32/1; crossbred ewe hoggets, 26/2; extra good crossbred wether hoggets ,29/1; ordinary crossbred wether hoggets, 24/ to 24/6; extra good threequarterbred wether ! hoggets, 31/3; threequarterbred wether hoggets, 26/1 to 28/8; small mixed sex hoggets 23/ to 26/4; cull (mixed sex hoggets 21/6; small halfIbrod wether hoggets, 24/6.
Fat Sheep.—The smallest entry for some years and a further rise in prices of 3/ per heart. Yv'ether mutton made, from S*d to 9£d per lb.; owe 7£d to BJd. Extra prime wethers. 55/ to 60/; prime, 4S/ to 52/6; medium, 44/ to 47/; extra prime ewes 45/ to 51/6; prime. 41/ to 44/; medium, 38/6 to 40/6; light ewes, 34/ to 37/; old ewes, 25/ to 30/.
Spring Lambs.—Twenty were forward and sold from 30/ to 37/6. Fat Cattle. —Another big yarding
of 435 head, 40 odd of which came from the North Island and 70 odd from Otago. Recent va.lues were not maintained, the easing on last week being about 20/ per head. The bulk of good beef made 41/ to 44/ per 100 lbs., secondary. 36/ to 39/. Good prime steers, £22 10/; prime( £l6 to £l9; medium, £l2 15/ to £ls 15/; light steers. £8 15/ to £l2; extra prime heifers, £ls; prime, £lO 15/ to £l3; medium £8 10/ to £lO 10/; in-
ferior, £6 to £8 5/; extra prime coavs. £ls 15/; prime, £9 15/ to £l2 5/; ordinary, £7 to £9 10/ ;old cows, £4 5/ to £6 10/. Vcalers. —An average yn.rdina- of specially good runners, realised £8 to £9 15/11; good vealers sold up to £6; medium £3 to £ 410/ ;small calves 10/ to 30/. Dairy Cows. —A smaller yarding, but sales were hard to make. "Medium to good springing fetched £4 to £7; best sorts. £10; medium to good springing heifers, £3 to £5 10/; best sorts, £S; backward and inferior 30/. Store Cattle.: —A slow sale, little of quality being forward. Four s'oar steers fotched £S 5/; 3-year, £5 8/; 2-year £4 2/6; 3-yenr heifers, in calf. £4; good 2-year old heifers £3 to £3 10/; good yearling heifers, £2 5/, fresh cows, £2 8/. Fat Pigs.—A slight easing in porkers' values. Choppers sold for £3 to £6 10/; light ba.coners, £4 5/ to £4 10/; heavy, £4 15/ to £5 10/; extra heavy, £5 15/ (average price per lb. 7d to 7£d); light porkers, 46/ to 55/; heavy. 57/ to 70/ (average price per lb. 9d).
Store Pigs. Values slipped back somewhat. Weaners, 15/ to 18/; good weaners 20/ to 2G/0; small stores, 20/ to 29/; medium stores, 35/ to 44/; larcre stores, 54/; sows in pig, £4 6/ to £6 7/6.
