RECLUSE'S FORTUNE.
CLAIMED BY A LABOURER. LONDON, August 21. A Leith labourer, claiming to be the nephew tand next-of-kin of the late Martin Edward l'-n-ke, a retired postmaster, who died at Sydney, intestate, at the age of eighty, is lodg ing a formal claim to Burke's fortune of £35,000. ("Martin Edward Burke, who lived at Bayswater Road, Darlinghurst, died intestate a few-months ago, leaving a fortune of £37,800. Letters of a.dministration were granted to the Public Trustee. Burke was a native of Ireland, but had ben in Australia, for forty-five years. At one time he was postmaster at Queanbeyan, and he held the same position at other country centres. He was unmarried FTe was described as moody, taciturn, badly clad, and miserly. Ho died at Prince Alfred Hospital. After the old man's death a search of his belongings was made, and it was found tha.t he had £20,000 on fixed deposit and shares in public companies worth thousands. Burke rarely associated with anyone, and no onesuspected his weath.]
