Practically no champagne will be made in France this year, chiefly owing to the “dry” regime in America and the high tariffs in other countries. The producers declare that they hold bigger champagne stocks than they can possibly sell. There is no longer a sufficient outlet and the trade is unable to buy this year’s crop of champagne gi’apes.
