SALE OF WORK.

AT ST. DAVID'S CHURCH. A most successful sale of work was held in the St. David's Church yesterday. The sale was opened-in the afternoon by the Mayor (Mr J. A. Nash, M.P.), who was introduced by the Rev. Boyd. The secretary (Mr Gilchrist) had the arrangements well in hand and the ladies in charge of the stalls decorated them very prettilv. A large number of people attended both during the afternoon and evening - , following were the stall holders: Ladies' clothing, Mesdames Ooreen :m.i Jamieson; fancy goods. Mesdames Spa'ckman and Gilchrist and Miss Lovelock; tea, Mrs Raleigh and assistants; home industries, Mesdames Moffatt and, T. Fraser; produce. Mesdames McDowell and Saunderson; sweets, Misses Brett and Buchanan; ice cream, Misses Donald and Wilton and assistants; live slock, the committee under Mr Sorenson.— A large number of competitions were held, the results being: Articles made from sugar bags: Miss Doreen I, Miss Fleming 2. Mrs Tylee. Mrs Raleigh and Mrs Davidson specials for unique designs. Doil-dressing: Miss Sutton 1. ISdith Allen. 2. Trimmed handkerchiefs: .Miss Pike t and 2.
