OFFICERS FOR REINFORCEMENTS.

NEW REGULATIONS. The following instructions in regard to Officers for future Reinforcements were issued yesterday from Palmerston Defence Office: — Gentlemen coming within the undermentioned categories are, if considered suitable by the Defence Office, eligible to be recommended for appointment on probation, to the subsequent reinforcements as officers to entered upon the district waiting list for 'that purpose, (a) Officers of the Territorial Force on the Active List; (b) Officers of the Unattached List; (c) Officers of Rerrve of Officers; (d) 'Officers on Ret : red List; (e)"'Those who have held commissions in the Military forces in any part of the Empire,.including Territorial and Volunteer Commissions, and those who served as Officers in the South African Contingents. Preference will be given to applicants in the order named. Second Lieutenants and ex-Second Lieutenants lieutenants and ex-Lieutenants up t'o 38 years of age. Captains and ex-Captains, Majors and ex-Majors up to 48 years of age. Second Lieutenants of the Territorial Force in order to be eligible to go into camp on probation with subsequent, reinfor&e'ments must , have had at least six •months service. Applicants are clearly to understand that they are not to throw up their civil appointments until *o«b time as tlioy are actually ordered into camp.
