AN AUCKLAND MYSTERY
Press Association. —By Telegraph. AUCKLAND, Sept. 25. Thomas Perry, a farmer at Remarama, 25 miles south of Auckland, was killed by a shot from a shotgun while in bed with his wife at 3 o'clock in tue morning ,the circumstances pointing to cold-blooded murder. Perry was about 40 years of age, and liis wife is several years younger. He leaves a family of nine children ranging from 14 years to two months. Perry returned from a visit to the city, and the family were on the usual happy terms, retiring at 11 0 'clock. i Mrs Pei\ty states that she was awakened by a gunshot at 3 a.m.. heard her husband making noises, and saw that he had been shfrt in the Lead. The eldest son, John, sleeping in the adjoining room, said lie heard a gunshot, and on going to his parents' room asked his mother what was the matter witli father. She replied that somebody had blown his head off, and told him to call a neighbour. The boy did so. Dr. Bromfield, of Papakura, was sent for, and on arriving with the police at 4.45, found Perry dead, his head being badly shattered and several parts of the skull blown away. There is no clue to the murderer, but a shotgun has been found in the house. MRS PERRY CHARGED WITH" THE 1 MURDER.
. AUCKLAND. Sept. 26. j A sensational development has occurred in connection with the shooting of Thomas Perry at Ramarama early on Saturday morning. Chief Detective McMahon and Sergt.-Detec-tive Hollis arrested Mrs Amelia Perry, widow of deceased, at 2 p.m. to-day at Ramarama and charged her with the murder. Slu; will arrive by train to-night. Mrs Perry is 31 years of age.
