PROHIBITING MARRIAGE.
UNDER THREAT OF DISMISSAL. A CRIMINAL OFFENCE. PERTH, yesterday. The Assembly approved of a new clause in the Criminal Code Bill that any person or corporation prohibiting under threat of dismissal the marrying (if any employee over 121 would be liable to a fine of £-300 or three months' imprisonment. This is the outcome of evidence in the Arbitration Court in Western Australia that banks prohibited the marriage of clerks receiving under £2OO per annum.
