The annual meeting of the Manawatu Golf Club was held last night. Mr. H. G. Moore (President) was ( in the chair, and a good number of j members were present. J The treasurer's report, balance- \ sheet and secretary's annual report j were adopted. The following officeis were elected President, Mr P. A. : McHardy; vice-president, Mr H. N. Watson; captain, Mr A. N. Barraud; Mr L. A. Abraham ; , hon. treasurer, Mr H. N. Gibbons; trustee, Mr H. Cooper. There were two vacancies on the committee to be filled and Mr H. G Moore and Dr. R. Stowe were elected A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the retiring hon. treasurer, Mr W. L. Fitzherbert. It was mentioned that he had accepted office somewhat against his own inclination owing to his time being very full with his own work and he hpd carried out the duties of treasurer in a very able manner. It was decided to play Wanganui Golf Club at the Hokowhitu links on May 8; Wellington, at Heretaunga links on July 12. The following new members elected Messrs H. M. Uram, E. F. Lewis, H. M. Duthie. The meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to the retiring President, Mr H. G. Moore. The eighteenth annual report showed that last season, in spite of the inclement weather, members generally were very keen, and there was a decided improvement in the general standard of play. Very great interest was taken in the various Club competitions, especially in the four ball competition, for which a very handsome challege trophy was kindly presented by Mr J. R. McLennan. An Eclectic competition was also held, Mr H. N. Watson presented the cup for same, and kept the records of the competition during the season. There were not very many outside matches played for. As was found difficult to get teams away. Good many matches were played on the local links. The Club championship was again won by A. Barraud, 0. H. Druce, being runner-up. This is the fifth year in succession that Barraud has won the Club championship. Interest was again revived in the Wilson Cup. This, so long held by the Napier Golf Club, once more found its way to Manatwatu, but unfortunately, not for long, as the Wanganui Golf Club challenged, and secured the trophy. 1 The Nathan Cup was won by. D. 1 G. Moore. » In the Medal competitions the Mc--1 Hardy Cup was won by 0. Louisson, 1 and in the Bogey competitions the ; Plunket Cup was won by St. C. Jounneaux. The Barraud and Abraham pup was won by E. G. Sim. The McLennan Cup for the four ball competition, was won by J. and G. Slack, and J. Slack secured the cup that Mr H. N. Watson presented for the best eclectic score. In the Junior competitions, M. Waldegrave won the Junior championship, and G. Slack both the Medal and the Bogey competitions. : Prizes were kindly presented at the 3 annul tournament by R. S. Abra- ■ ham, H. Coopei, O. H. Druce, J. L Strang. W. Strang, and T. C. Will liamson. r It is a matter of regret that it has - to be again noted that the engage- . ment of a Club professional did not t prove a complete success. Mr Mc--5 Ewan attended for some weeks, but I a considerable portion of his time ■ was not engaged by members for les--3 sons The links are in r very fine order for play, and this is I due in a great measure to the care . that has been bestowed on them by the management of the summer 1 golfers. Tne thanks of the Club are - again due to Dr. Stowe for a further r presentation to the Club library 9 that he was instrumental in starting.
