SHEARERS' CONFERENCE.
BIG AIMS. (Press Aisoci&tion.—By Telefp-apb. Wellington, Last Night. The Shearers' Conference received a telegram from the Slieepowners' Federation expressing readiness to meet the Shearers' Executive in conference, but pointing out that the Federation executive has been recommended by the Canterbury Union to renew the present award for a further three years and if the Shearers' executive agrees to this the conference will be unnecessary. Various details regarding pens and the conduct of work in the sheds were discussed at length, and it was resolved to make every effort to bring all rural workers within the bounds of one Dominion organisation.
Oil the subject of lost time it was resolved that in case of stoppage of machinery at any shed through breakage or where a shearer is rendered idle through the employer or his agent failing to start shearing on the date of advice or failing to maintain the supply of sheep, the shearer shall be paid at the rate of Is 3d per hour for all such rime lost. It was resolved that no shearer be allowed to leave a shed at his own wish without the consent of the majority of shearers except in case of accident, illness or urgent necessity. A deputation from tne conference will wait upou the Premier on Monday.
