VALIDO'S OWNER EXPLAINS. • NO GAMBLER. Prestt Assa—By Telegraph—Copyright Sydney, Yesterday. Mr D. G. Greenwood, in a letter to the Herald, concerning the running of Yalido at the Randwick races, says—"From information received it appears that an impression is abroad that I won a heavy stake with the bookmakers on Yalido. I most emphatically contradict that impression. My only investment was £2 10s, and I had, neither directly nor indirectly, any interest in any other wager, nor have I ever made or participated in a bet with a bookmaker exceeding £0 by which I have benefited. I have absolute confidence in my trainer's discretion, and he knows lam a non-betting owner. He is thus entitled to enter, and run my horses in my absence the same as he would in my presence. '' (Yalido is owned by Mr G. D. Greenwood, of New Zealand.) JACAMAR SOLD. Sydney, Yesterday. Jacamar has been sold for 1500 guineas to Scott, for racing in India.
