FEILDING AND DISTINCT NOTES.

(Our own Representative)

Mr A. G. Logie, with ticket No. 935, is the winner of the trip to Rotorua, promoted by Feilding Beautifying Society. Twenty-eight boy students are in camp at "Almadafe," undergoing a course of agricultural instruction under the supervision of Mr Grant, instructor for Wanganui Education Board. The camp will break up next Saturday. Feilding residents are evidently not very keen on technical education. A meeting called last evening to elect a committee for the Technical School produced only eight, five of whom were officials. The meeting was postponed until next week.

A SURPRISE PARTY. fMr C. H. lies h- s been transferred from the statioumastership of Feilding, and on Monday evening a surprise party visited Mrs lies. The visitors provided a splendid concert programme and supper, and during an interval Mr Bowden presented Mrs lies with a suitably-inscribed gold bangle from her lady friends. Mrs lies, during her four years' residence in Feilding, has made many friends, who, while regretting her departure, will wish her every happiness in her new home. THE LIEDERTAFEL. Feilding Liedertafel is at present rather an unhappy body. A meeting was called for Monday evening, but only four attended. The chairman (Mr J. Collingwood) and Secretary (Mr M. L. V. Tickle) both tendered their resignations. BOWLING. In all probability Feilding Club will send two rinks to the Hutt Club and Victoria (Wellington) Club during the Easter holidays; also two rinks to the Terrace End tournament.

SATURDAY HALF-HOLIDAY. All interested ehould attend a meeting to be held this evening to discuss his important matter. The petition in favour of declaring a poll has been over-subscribed and if those who have declared is favour of a poll all vote accordingly the Saturday half-holiday seems assured. SUCCESSFUL SPORTS. The first sports meeting at Marton Junction resulted in a profit of £2O. At a meeting on Monday evening, votes of thanks were accorded the officials, handicappers (Messrs Torsfcenson, Gibbons and May) and the ■donors of trophies.
