ABANDONED THE WOUNDED.
A GENERAL DISGRACED.
Progs Aesn—By Telegraph—Copyright Paris, March 8.
The newspaper Humanite alleges that during the operations in Morocco General Franchet Despery ordered the Surgeon-Major to remain behind with the wounded because they retarded his progress. The surgeon refused, and Despery abandoned the wounded in the care of ten Alpine chasseurs. All of them were murdered by Moors.
General Lyautey imprisoned Despery for thirty days, and later he was summoned to Paris to explain.
Received 5.5 p.m. Paris, March 9.
The Minister for War denies the abandonment of the wounded in Morocco.
