On a charge of betting, Gilbert James \ oung, of Wellington, was yesterday fined £2O. —Assn. Thomas Lock. 50 years of age, was charged at the Auckland Police Court on Thursday with an offence against a girl of 15 years of age and committed to the Supreme Court tor trial, bail being fixed at one surety of £l5O. The allegation is that the offence took place about midnight at tiie merry-go-round, of which accused was proprietor. The girl had known accused at Palmer ston North.
