LICENSING COMMITTEE ELECTIONS
IN OTAGO.
(Press Association). Dunedir, Last Night. Owing to reduotion having been carried at the looal option polls in Dnnedin City, Dunedin South, and Ohaimors, keen interest is likely to be taken in the Licensing Oommittoe eleotions next week. For Dnnedin. Oity the retiring committee, Messrs Arkle, Braithwaite, Ornst, Burnett and Small, have been nominated, also five candidates, Messrs King, Oalder, Wilkin, son, Phillips, and Dr. De Lautour, on bohalf of the No-lioense party. In Dunedin South five candidates have been nominated by the Nolicense party, also three independents.
In Ohalmers, nine oandidates have been nominated. In Taieri a compromise lias boon arrived at and no eieotion wtyl be necessary.
PECULIAR POSITION IN ASHBURTON.
ABhburton, Last Night,
The following nominations have been reoeived for the Licensing Committee for the Ashburton electorate whioh is under No-Lloense: Mossrs P. R. Faltman, T. E. Upton, B. R. Maodonald, P. R. Stubbs and P. H. Choat. Although the electorate is under No-Lioense a oommittee is required to administer the Aot until Juno 30 next on aocount of six licensed houses existing in the Geraldine portion of the electorate, whioh was added to Ashburton by the Boundary Commissioners.
