NEW BRIDGE AT HOKOWHITU
A deputation consisting of Messrs Bryant, McKnight and R. S. Abraham waited on the Borough Council last night to urge the erection of a new bridge at Hokowhitu. The estimated cost was -£7600. The ratepayers of Fitzherbert East were willing to be taxed to the extent of about an additional 546 th of a ?enny, whichl would realise £3000. 'he Palmerston Borough Council had guaranteed'£lsoo, the Pahiatua Borough Council £500, and with the Government subisdy of £2500 this would make up the full amount reThe deputation desired the Council to apply to the Government for an Order-in-Conncil to enable the work to be proceeded with. This matter will come up for discussion at the meeting of the Oonn- - oil on Friday next.
