Per Press Association.. Wellington, October 28. THE ENDOWMENT BILL. The House met at T.iJO p.m. Seven days' leave of absence was granted to' Mr Alison on account of illness. The Christcluircli District Drainage Act Amendment Bill was read a first time. The House went into Committee on the National Endowment Bill, Clause 12 of which provides that it shall be. lawful for the Colonial Treasurer to issue and apply such sums of money not exceeding in any one year £50,000, as are appropriated by Parliament for the puurpose of the/formation of roads or bridges upon any national land for the purpose of facilitating the settlement of any such land, was passed without amendment. The Premier proposed a new subclause providing that in addition to the area described in the schedule the area of endowment lands shall include all Crown lands outside 1 and for settlement lands which at pro sent or in future is held under lease as a small grazing run. This was agreed to after various amendments had been rejected on the voices and the clause was made a clause of the Bill by !38 to 20.
