Adelaide, Last Night. A fire started in the ten-fathom level of Taylor's shaft. Wallaroo Mine, just as the afternoon shift was leaving. The men escaped, and it is understood that all are safe. The flames spread to the poppet heads.

The latest report says that efforts so far have been confined to saving the poppets which are still burning fiercely. The extent of the fire below is unknown.

Volumes of smoke are issuing from the shaft and hundreds of men are engaged in fighting the fire.
