Agent-General's Report.
Wellington, Yesterday. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the Agent-General, dated London, July 6th: -Mutton market steady at last week's quotations. The lamb market is firm, the average prices to-day being: Canterbury brand, s^d; brands other than Canterbury, s&d. The beef market is depressed! The average price to-.day for hindquarters is 4^d; and for fores, 2|d. Butter: No alteration. The cheese market is dull. The hemp market is quiet at a decline in price ; good fair Wellington, on spot, quoted at £32; July-August shipment, £30 ; Manila hemp, fair current grade, is quoted at £33. Stocks of New Zealand hemp on hand to-day are 652 tons, against 267 tons at tbis date last year. The cocksfoot market is steady pending advices regarding the American crop. The price to-day for bright, clean New Zealand cocksfoot, weighing 171bs to the bushel, is 46s per cwt.
