OBITUARY
The death occurred recently of Mrs Amelia Helen Whalley, of Linton Street, widow of Mr R,. H. Whallev, who was well-known in Palmerston North. Born in Wellington 72 years ago, Mrs Whalley was the only daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Alexander McMinn. Mr McMinn was the founder of the “Manawatu Standard.” Mrs Whalley, who was educated at the Wanganui Convent School, was married in the Taranaki district and came to Palmerston North shortly after her wedding. She. had resided in the city ever since. During the Great War she took a leading part as a pianist in entertainments for the troops. Her services were also availed of for many other gatherings in the Manawatu district. Mrs Whalley was also a member of the Operatic Society. Her husband predeceased her five years ago, and left to mourn her passing are two "daughters, Mesdames W. Barling (Palmerston North) and K. W. Eg] in ton (Palmerston North), and one son, Mr ft. L. AVhalley (Auckland); also four brothers, Messrs F. A. and Garnett McMinn (Auckland), Gordon McMinn (Melbourne) and L. McMinn (Levin). Tho late Mr Archibald McMinn, a well-known Rugby footballer, was also a brother of Sirs Whalley.
