There was a large attendance of electors on' Wednesday evening at Oroua Downs to hoar Corporal Oliver, Labour candidato for the Manawatu. Tho candidato outlined the Government's housing policy and dealt with the housing probr lorn, pointing out that the Government had built 15,000 State houses, and-dur-ing that timo a further 8000 houses had been built by private people. Tho main principles to be pillowed by any Government wore to ensure economic security of the home and see that the physical being was properly looked, after. Moral development could only come after physical and mental fitness. The speaker had nothing to say from a personal point of viow of any other party, but was guided by a sincere desire to help all mankind and to make New Zealand fit for those- who returned from overseas. A wealth of experience of the mistakes of tho : last'war was proof enough that new methods were '• needod to handle rehabilitation questions, and Labour's plans, he claimed, wore designed to meet every circumstance.
