CHRISTMAS MESSAGES.
TO THE FORCES
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 24. Christmas messages have been sent by the Governor-General to General Freyberg and to the Chiefs of Staff of the Army, Navy, and Air Force in New Zealand, as follow: — To General Freyberg: "My best wishes for Christmas and New Year to you and all ranks under your command. All in Now Zealand are proud of your magnificent achievements." To the General Officer Commanding New Zealand Military Forces: "I send you and all ranks under your command my best wishes for Christmas and the Now Year which I trust will see the Allied set on the high road To the Chief of the Naval Staff: "I send you and all officers and ratings ot the Royal New Zealand Navy my best wishes for Christmas and the New Year May 1943 bring us all nearer our evontual victory over our enemies To the Chief of the Air Staff: "I send vou and all ranks of the Royal New Zealand Air Force my best wishes for Cliristmas and for 1943. May the New Year fulfill the promise of the last months of 1942 and bring us near the complete defeat of our enemies." In addition Christmas messages have been sent by His Excellency to the other units of the New Zealand lorces serving overseas.
