A.N.A. CLUB.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —Your correspondent, Helen Stewart, is to be congratulated upon her exposure of the totally unjustified waste in spending £l5O on carpets for the A.N.A. Club. There is really no need to flog the subject, but it is quite obvious that Mr Mansford’s reply is weak in the extreme. However, we can leave it at that. If Mrs Stewart is really interested in carpets—the best that money can buy —she should ask to have a look at the beauties that adorn the floors at the Staff College, or whatever it is, situated in Te Awe Awe Street. I am reliably informed that the amount spent on carpets is in the vicinity of £9OO. This I consider, a flagrant waste of public money. I understand the permanent staff (those who reside there) amount to about half a dozen officers and about as many (or more) men servants. 1 consider all Army expenditure should be checked by some competent business man before any money is spent. —I am, etc., CITIZEN.
