Mrs W. F. Field was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the AV.D.F.TJ. yesterday. The correspondence included a letter from Mrs W. Jacques (secretary of the Palmerston North branch of the Polish Army League) acknowledging a parcel received; an invitation for two members to attend the second birthday meeting of the Happiness Club; and a letter acknowledging a message of sympathy from Mrs McMahon. An inspiring message on the duties and responsibilities of the division was received from Mrs J. Harris (Turakina), president of the Wellington Central Provincial executive. Mrs Field stated that she had attended a victory loan meeting, reporting on it and stressing the urgent need for support in. this respect. It was decided to invite a speaker to attend the next meeting and explain the meaning of and tile necessity for a second victory loan. Mrs Field also reported that she and Miss Salisbury (matron of the Rest Home) had attended the birthday meeting of the Feilding branch. Mrs E. J 3. Jennings (treasurer) presented the statement of accounts. Mrs W. Montgomery reported that the sewing circle was making good progress and numbers of garments had been dispatched and letters acknowledging them had boon received. Mesdnmes Gooding ancl Easton reported on hospital visiting for the month. One of the junior housekeepers, Miss E. Walton, was warmlv welcomed to the meeting. Miss M. Matheson (secretary), speaking of canteen work in the E.P.&., advised all members of this section that they must take a bill}', thermos flask and tea towel to their next parade. She advised that a number of soldiers’ parcels had been forwarded during the month. Helpers for the next packing day were called for. Members were reminded that tlic division is to hold the patriotic shop on November 26, 27, and 28 and Mrs Field asked them to commence collecting articles for stocking it. Mrs Tomlinson and helpers are to hold the bring-alid-buy stall at the next meeting. Throughout the meeting brisk business was done at the bving-and-buy table under the charge ot Mrs D. "Watson and Miss A. Penny.
