TANK-LANDING SHIP

NEW BUILDING FEAT.

(10.5 a.m.) OAKLAND (CaJ.), Oct. 6 Mr H. J. Kaiser, the noted industrialist, announced that he is launching the first 3500-ton “secret tanklanding ship,” which has been prefabricated inland and requires only half of the quantity of steel used in the Liberty ships. Mr Kaiser, in a statement, declared: “They said it could not be done, hut we will be turning out two weekly in the new yard.” Mr Kaiser, who is also constructing three experimental giant cargo ships in addition to the rapid building of Liberty ships, expects the new “tank lander” to be fitted out and ready for service in 30 days.
