SERVICE OVERSEAS
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—As the free Press is the only medium left by which we can air our perplexities and hidden fears, I as ■ the mother of two lads ask an assurance that hoys in their teens will not be conscripted to leave New Zealand. I speak on behalf of many anxious mothers who perhaps are too timid to venture into print for fear of being thought unpatriotic. They have already proved conch:, ively that their love of country exceeds their personal love, some by giving all their sons. Before all democratic rights completely vanish, ..may we parents have the assurance that our younger lads will not leave these shores? Pro portionntely, this little country has done and given more than any other part of the Empire.—l am. etc.. MOTHER.
The Minister of Defence has given an assurance that men under 21 years will not he sent overseas.
