A STEP FORWARD.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —A statement made by Mr H. S. S. Kyle, M P. for Riccarton, which appeared recently, to the effect that he intends to sever his connection with the National Party and become an Independent should meet with our heartiest approval. Party politics have run their course and should be abolished; when this happy day arrives we could cut down our number of Parliamentary members by half. This line of action would save considerable time and give more efficient service.— T am, etc., THOS. YOUNG, Feilding.
