WORK IN THE MUD. TRACKS HEAVY AT A WAP-UNI. (By “Spectator.”) After rain during tho night tho tracks at Awapuni this morning were in a very sodden state an unweleonio change from tho recent conditions. Pools ot water abounded and the course proper was quickly churned up. Only horses with engagements at the Kangilikei Hunt meeting wore allowed to use n and the poles Were out about 20 ft. Hu Mauricr (Waddell) jumped away at tho five-furlong post and came homo nicely in 1.11. He looks well. Cartoonist (Waddell) and Raketo (Stewart) were not hurried when running six furlongs in 1.29. Over the same ground, Wings of Song (Bedstone) went fast early, but was cased in tho straight. The Aucklanders The Dozer (McFarlane) and Surpai (Cleaver), impressed when running five furlongs in I. 4-5. Both uro very well. Surpai afterwards jumped three hurdles in the centio, knocking a panel out of tho second one. Manahau (Stewart) was allowed -to strido along over six furlongs, coming homo the last three in 44scc. Auburn Lad (Waddell) and Rangitikei (Stewart) were together at the end ot six furlongs, run in 1.26, and both hit out freely. Halley (Redstone) was too good for Dcilation (Anderson) over five furlongs, finishing clear in 1.14. Deflation was favouring a leg as ho camo ln *Colibri (Caddy) was sent once round, covering the last seven furlongs in 1.47 1-5 lie hit out freely all tho way and was keen to go faster. Hyderabad and Vengeance were given a strong working gallop over a mile and a-quarter. Lueullus Bov (Waddell) found the conditions to his liking when covering three furlongs m 44 sec. Renascor (Stewart) and Lacan (Waddell) were not asked -for their best whenthey ran seven furlongs in 1.29 4-5. Ootcrica (Stewart) was given a solid gallop over five furlongs, and Miss Lcighon, who followed her, came homo over the last three furlongs in 45scc without being kicked out. Brazil (Buchanan) dashed over three furlongs in 44sec. There is nothing wrong with his condition. Greek Stop (Stewart) was clear of Bluo Lagoon (Ilain) when tho pair ran half a mile m 5/ l-sscc. Ilunto was much too good toi Ilenrv of Huntingdon at the end of six furlongs covered in 1.26 2-5. Waddell: Auburn Lad. Ilunto. A. Jenkins has been engaged to ride Foxiana in the Grand National Hurdles and M. Caddy will ride Wrings of Song in the Winter Cup. Both of L. G.
