PURSUIT OF SOLUTION.
FACIAL ECZEMA IN SHEEP. (Press Assn.) WELLINGTON, July 23 The Go\ eminent was urged to continue its effort to find the solution of the cause of facial eczema in a motion carried at the annual conference of the New Zealand Sheepowners’ federation. The conference affirmed the necessity for exhaustive investigation into the problem of deteriorating second and third-das® lands of difficult economic status immediately conditions will allow. On the ground that the full resources of the Dominion at present should bo confined to the successful prosecution of the war, it was decided to oppose the proposed rivers’ control legislation. Tho following other remits were carried :
“That the Primary Production Council bo asked to take such steps as may be possible the alteration of holidays or length of terms, to make schoolboy and university student labour available at a time when it is most urgently required for farm operations.” (Otago and Southland.) “That the question of the allocation of price for the finer grades of wool be discussed as this branch is of opinion that an adequate price is not being paid for this class of wool.” (Marlborough.)
