RANGITIKEI.
At a meeting of the council of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society in Wellington last week, at which Mr K. Cudopp. delegate for the Marion branch attended, several remits from Marten were favourably considered, and their inclusion in the fishing regulations for the coming season is anticipated. .Mr Gudopp stated that live bait may be used. The use of worms is do finitely prohibited. The proposal that ihe lower reaches of the Rangitikei River he accorded liberation of brown trout received favourable consideration, the opinion and advice of which is to be solicited from Mr Hobbs, biologist. The alteration of dates of fishing licences as affecting lakes in the Rangitikei district received careful considcrtion, the recommendation regarding which will ho submitted to the next meeting of Ihe Marlon branch. Mrs H. Franke presided af a meeting of the Marlon Junction Women’s Institute, \\ tien tlie programmes for meetings in October and December were decided upon. It was proposed to invite the Tokarangi Women’s Institute to the August meeting and the Hulls Institute and the Tutaenm branch of the W.D.F.U. 10 the October meeting. The treasurer (Mrs F. A. Hemplcnian) reported that the financial position was very satisfactory. At a meeting of the Wanganui Education Board, yesterday, a letter was received from the headmaster of the Marton Junction School making application for the erection of a school residence. He pointed out that he was living in three rooms and was greatly inconvenienced. It was decided to forward a copy of the letter to the Education Department and to cooperate with the State Housing Department in making one of the State houses available.!
