Starring for the first and only time Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell “Broadway Melody” presents dancing as you like it, from rapid-tiro taps lo the dreamiest of waltz time, from exotic rhumbas to fanciful ballet, and includes in all, nine speciality dances supported by a chorus of 50 beautiful girls. A strong supporting cast includes Frank Morgan in an ideal comedy role, and lan Hunter, Floronco Rico, George Murphy and Lynne Carver. The first half of the programme is headed by a Fitzpatrick colour travel, “Suva, Pride of Fiji,” a Passing Parade subject, “Medico,” and latest overseas news and variety.
